Bong to play private party for NAMM 2008!!!

Thanks to the great audience response we received for our reunion gig at the All Access Music Awards last month, Sheena Metal's Beer Bong has been asked to play a special industry event on Thursday, January 17, 2008 in honor of the NAMM (National Association of Music Merchants/The International Music Products Association) convention at the Anaheim Convention Center.

NAMM JAM 2008 will be held this year at the Fender Avenue Bar & Grill in Fullerton (2466 Fender Avenue in Fullerton). We'll be playing promptly at 9p.m. (the club is keeping a really tight schedule that night because of the crazy convention schedule), right after a brief Red Carpet media session, so if you're press, you might want to come a little early.

The line-up is as follows:
7:00 p.m. Joe Walla Band
8:00 p.m. High Voltage
9:00 p.m. Sheena Metal's Beer Bong
10:00 p.m. National Dust
11:00 p.m. Jetboy
12:00 a.m. The NAMM Jam

Doors open at 6p.m., the club is all ages, there is no cover charge and lots of free parking. However, this is a private event and we have a limited guest list so if you'd like to attend, please email me at:
sheenametal@onemain.com. If you're already planning to attend NAMM, email me and I'll get you on our NAMM attendees list. If you're press/industry, we have a list for that too.

This event will absolutely sell out, so the club has devised an outside seating area with tables and chairs under a canopy. A big screen TV will be set up, broadcasting the bands to the outdoor audience. DJ Will from KNAC.com will be spinning hot rock tunes between the live acts.

The NAMM Jam will take place at midnight. Artists who have appeared are:
Marten Andersson (bassist for George Lynch/LizzyBorden), Andy Freeman (vocalist George Lynch), Joey Scott (Drummer for Lizzy Borden), Patrick Johansson (Drummer for Yngwie Malmsteen/WASP), James Kottak (drummer for Scorpions/Kingdom Come/Warrant/Montrose), Athena Lee (drummer for Hardly Dangerous), Rev Jones (bassist for MSG/Black Symphony), Rick Plester (guitarist for Black Symphony), Ira Black (guitarist for Lizzy Borden/Metal Church), Doug Blair (guitarist for WASP), Michael James Duda (bassist for WASP), Jack Frost (guitarist for Savatage), and Pete Holmes (drummer from MSG/Ted Nugent/Black n Blue/Yngwie Malmsteen).

For more info visit: http://www.fenderavenuebarandgrill.com. It's an honor for us to play such a star-studded and media-hyped event and we promise to bring a little San Fernando Valley grime to this pristine Orange County club and make sure it feels just a little bit dirtier in the morning. Hell, we may even get Mickey Mouse plastered.

Oh, and a special big thanks to our endorser, Minarik Guitars, for sponsoring us for this gig. Freddi Fretz will be playing our Minarik Gold Lotus that night and Rikki Rokkstar will be playing our Diablo Bass. There is a rumor that Ivana Rock may even step away from the keys for a song and play her custom Minarik acoustic prototype and for the first time ever, Layfette Lixx will be playing a black Minarik Inferno guitar, and rumor has
it he may have sex with it after the show.

We hope to see some of you there! If you can't make the show and you'll be at NAMM, email me and let's arrange to hook up and have a drink. I'll be there all four days from start to close and at as many parties and shows at night as I possibly can without passing out on Harbor Blvd. like I did last year.

Until then, keep Bongin'...
Sheena

Music Connection Hot 100 Unsigned Artists!

That's right. Revered industry magazine Music Connection has named Sheena Metal's Beer Bong as one of its Hot 100 Unsigned Artists for 2007. In the band's colorful and eclectic 15-year history, Beer Bong has received the coveted "Hot 100 Unsigned" numerous times; the last in 2000 right before the band took its eight year hiatus. Now, just weeks after a highly successful reunion gig, Beer Bong is thrilled to be bestowed with this amazing honor again. Since 1977, Music Connection has been the last word in the Music Business and their "Hot 100" is voted on secretly by a myriad of industry professionals. A big "Thanks!" to Music Connection magazine and to the Los Angeles Music Industry for putting us in the their "Hot 100" one more time.

You voted!!! We won!!!

Thanks to you, my band, Sheena Metal's Beer Bong, was voted The People's Choice Award for favorite band at the 2007 All Access Music Awards on Saturday, November 3rd.

The night was a success all around. Beer Bong opened the night with a fun set full of raunch rock. It was a reunion show of sorts...our first in over eight years and we were all thrilled to take the stage at the Knitting Factory Hollywood for this prestigious event. It was the first time we played our new Minarik Guitars onstage and we are thrilled to be endorsed by
such a terrific company.

I was completely overwhelmed by the crowd's reaction. Beer Bong passed out 100 songbooks that night (thanks to our Beer Bong Babes, Luscious Laura and Gina Tailya) chock full of the lyrics to our songs and not a single book could be found after the show. My backup singers Ivana and Mistress Cherry Pie were mobbed by eager Bongheads after the set and one horny fanatic grabbed Layfette's privates...oh, and Rikki Rokkstar banged some old whore who came to see us. Yep! It's only our first show back and we're already drawing out the leathery old skanks.

We have some great photos up on our My Space page thanks to drummer Timmy Tomms leprechaun posse. Check them out!

After the set, I hosted the night. I tried to keep the audience psyched and interested, introduced ten live bands and gave out over 40 awards to talented musicians including Beer Bong's own, Ivana Rock who won for Best Keyboardist. Our guitarist Layfette Lixx was also nominated for Best Guitar.

Our People's Choice Award was the last of the night and the only thing that would have made us more excited to win was if half of us hadn't passed out drunk before our name was called. Speaking of which, Minarik Guitars gave out a guitar at the end of the Awards that night and who was the first name pulled from the bucket but Beer Bong's own guitarist, Freddi Fretz. Only Freddi was passed out in the toilet of my dressing room and no where to be found when the name was called and wasn't near the stage to win...so the guitar went to someone who was still conscious at midnite.

And the Bong saga continues...
