It’s here! The second collection of Clare’s music to add to your library. Aurelius

One of Clare Fischer’s most widely known and performed compositions, now a jazz standard, is available here.

Advance Music, Clare’s publishing company, has released the score and parts to the big band arrangement that was recorded with strings on Clare’s “Latin Side” recording. Clare wrote this arrangement for the Metropole Orchestra in Holland, and they did a marvelous job of performing it on that recording. Now it is available for any organization to perform that has access to both a big band and a string section.

If you obtain both the score and the recording, you have the makings of a great study resource.

Since Clare’s album, “After the Rain,” was released in 2001, people have been asking for the music to this beautiful suite. Now Advance Music has made all three movements available. “Breathtaking, rousing and impassioned contemporary, original work for string orchestra that hangs in space and hovers over the landscape of the heart like a mist.” This is the description written by one listener. If you have the CD, you know that’s a pretty accurate description!

Harmonic Excercises

When Clare tired of playing exercises to improve his skills at the piano, he wrote this book. Here exercises have been constructed toward two ends: finger strength and facility without the usual boredom that comes from repetitious practicing and harmonic thinking at the piano to improve improvisational skills.

Alone Together

Transcriptions of 8 of the tunes Clare improvised on the solo piano recordings, "Alone Together" and "Just Me." These were painstakingly written out by Dr. Bill Dobbins, former director of the WDR Big Band in Cologne, Germany and noted jazz educator, recently returned to Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY. His preface is worth the price of the book!
