A long time ago (we won't say how long), the manager of a band I played for thought I needed a better last name. So I began using the stage name Paul Houston. It stuck and over the years, many came to know me by the name.
When I needed a name for my computer consulting company. A friend suggested "Houston Computer Solutions" and the "Houston, We Have A Problem" space scenario. I went with it.
I've been working with computers since 1984 when my small-town high school got their first Apple IIc. Remember the guy in high school that spent his lunch break in the computer room... and his study hour... and ... well, basically, every minute he could find? That was me.
Before starting HCS, I worked for 7 years as systems manager for a chain of auto parts stores here in Los Angeles. To provide better support for a newly installed accounting software, I became (or was forced to become) an expert in double-entry accounting and reporting.
In 1998, I took the leap and started Houston Computer Solutions.
From Santa Clarita to Long Beach, Glendale to Malibu, and all points between, my clients are young entrepeneurs, long-time small business owners, and home computer users of all ages.
For me, there's nothing more satsifying than finding a solution. I truly enjoy figuring out why a network router isn't talking to a device or finding the best accounting software for a small business.
